Thin Lips
Many doctors and aestheticians perform treatments to help their patients improve on their looks. The treatments that are available can address an array of different concerns, on a variety of areas on the face and body. A person may be unhappy with their appearance for a number of reasons, whether it’s down to genetics or the way in which ageing has taken effect. One concern that many clinics find their patients wish to treat is thin lips.
Thin lips appear less full than a person would like, and commonly occurs on either the top lip or with both lips. This concern is often part of a person’s natural appearance, which many affected people feel makes the rest of their features look unbalanced. When thin lips develop over time, it is often due to lost volume as collagen levels decline.
As we mature the body goes through a series of internal and external changes. Known as the ageing process, many of us find that when we reach our 30’s and 40’s the skin looks and feels different, our facial features generally look worn and the body starts to become less agile. This process will also play out in the skin and tissues on the lips and around the mouth, causing thinning skin to look wrinkled, and the lips to generally become smaller. In many cases thin lips can appear alongside lips lines, small wrinkles that fan out from the edge of the lips.
At Chester Cosmetic Surgery Miss Breahna can treat thin lips to help patients improve their appearance, either with dermal fillers or surgically. Dermal fillers are great for adding volume beneath the skin in order for the complexion and / or certain features to look fuller, smoother and more defined. This treatment is popular with patients of all ages as they provide a safe and effective solution for thin lips, whatever their cause. If a surgical option is preferred, a ‘lip lift’ procedure is carried out under local anaesthetic. This procedure improves the definition of a thin upper lift, which can be followed by a dermal filler injection a few months later.
