Desirial Injections (Vaginal Dryness)

The skin and tissues around the vagina can change over time, and more commonly when a woman is going through the menopause. This can lead to less hydration, which results in an uncomfortable concern known as vaginal dryness. Restoring hydration to the labia (vaginal lips) can help to rebuild the tissue structure so that the vagina can function more effectively.

Desirial injections contain a high concentration of hyaluronic acid. This substance is naturally found in the skin, and production can slow down with age and when oestrogen levels fall. By increasing hydration in the vulva area, the skin and tissues can become firmer and fuller, at the same time as improving suppleness and elasticity. Hyaluronic acid stimulates the cells found in the vaginal mucosa which improves their activity and produces more moisture. This in turn improves the overall quality of the vagina, while boosting the production of collagen and elastin.

Improving vaginal dryness can relieve a woman of other associated symptoms, including: sensitivity, itching, burning, discomfort, urine leaks, loss of libido, pain during sex and increased risk of urinary tract infections.

Frequently asked questions

Desirial injections contain hyaluronic acid which can provide relief for women who are affected by vaginal dryness. A comprehensive consultation at Chester Cosmetic Surgery will establish how suitable this treatment is for you.

This treatment is considered safe. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance that is found in the skin and increasing its levels will help to restore tissue structure, and usual functioning of the vagina.

Before the treatment takes place we will administer an anaesthetic gel to the affected area. This will help to numb the treatment site before injections are applied and will make the process more comfortable.

The vagina is a sensitive area, and side effects are to be expected. Swelling, bruising, redness and irritation are common and may last for a few days after the procedure.

Hyaluronic acid will slowly spread through the skin and tissues. The process of boosting the natural production of collagen and increased hydration will develop gradually over a period of 4-6 weeks, when results are likely to become noticeable. As with many other hyaluronic acid products, the effects will decline over a period of 6-9 months and may need a repeated procedure to maintain the results.
