Labiaplasty Under Local Anaesthetic
I had a labiaplasty performed by Miss Breanna in November 2022. I chose Anca because I wanted the procedure carried out under local anaesthetic and not general and she does this as routine. Right from the start she was very open and honest about the possible risks and complications and also what kind of results I could expect. She answered all my concerns and I felt confident and comfortable going into the operating room if not a little anxious about what to expect during the procedure. The atmosphere in theatre was light hearted and relaxed and relaxed spent the whole hour chatting away to the assisting nurses whilst the procedure was carried out. I was very sore the first night but was sent home with codeine which kept me comfortable for the first 24 hours after which things settled and paracetamol was sufficient. I’m really glad I went ahead with the procedure and would highly recommend Anca to anyone considering a labiaplasty.
I had labiaplasty and a clitoral hood reduction with Miss Breahna in early January, so I am now 8 weeks post-surgery. I am beyond delighted with my results and experience. I am 49 years old and have been contemplating this surgery for some time. A few years ago all of the experienced female surgeons were in London and I did not want to have surgery so far from home. So I was very happy to find Miss Breahna. I heard about her through a doctor who is a friend, who told me that she was very highly regarded by her peers. Prior to the surgery I had 2 consultations and Miss Breahna was extremely thorough in explaining the surgery, showing me lots of pictures and also explaining the potential complications. I was a little nervous about having a local anaesthetic for the surgery, but I really shouldn’t have worried. I was given a numbing cream, so didn’t feel a thing when the anaesthetic was administered. Miss Breahna has an all female theatre team who were lovely and really put me at ease. We chatted about all kinds of topics during the surgery! My recovery from the surgery was uneventful. I took the prescribed painkillers for 24 hours after the surgery, but then I didn’t need them after that. I followed all of the instructions that I was given. I stayed in bed, off my feet, for 3 full days after the surgery to allow the wounds to heal, loving the opportunity to watch some films and TV series. I then took it really easy for the rest of that first week. During the 2nd week I worked from home and again took care not to do too much. I had no pain and no stinging at all during those early days. Miss Breahna gives you antibiotic ointment and a post-surgical spray to apply to the stitches during the early weeks of your recovery. Between weeks 2-6 I did not feel very restricted as a result of the surgery and had no pain or discomfort, but I did refrain from exercise and intimate relations as per the advice. From 6 weeks onwards I have been able to resume all activities. The most unexpected outcome for me has been the improvement in feeling and sensitivity as a result of the clitoral hood reduction. The cosmetic appearance does really change over time. In the immediate aftermath of the surgery the whole area is swollen and the stitched areas are prominent. As the weeks go by, the swelling disappears and you can then start to see the results. If you do go ahead with surgery, don’t stress when you look in the mirror during the first week! It won’t look like that in the end. Cosmetic surgery is a big decision, but if you put yourself in the hands of an experienced and diligent surgeon then the outcomes can be absolutely amazing and life-changing. Miss Breahna is a skilled surgeon, with lots of experience of labiaplasty. She is also a lovely person who makes a personal, intimate experience very comfortable. 8 weeks post surgery – beyond delighted with my results
I am now 8 weeks post surgery after a labiaplasty and clitoral hood reduction. I am beyond delighted with my results and the experience with Miss Brehna and her team.
I am 49 years old and have been contemplating this surgery for a long time. I have always been unhappy with the aesthetic, but for the last 10 years I have also suffered physical problems as a result of my large labia.
Prior to my surgery I had 2 appointments with Miss Breahna and she was very thorough in her explanation of the surgery. She showed me lots of pictures and described the potential complications of surgery as well as the potential advantages. I felt very well informed when I made my decision to proceed with the surgery.
On the day of the surgery I was a bit nervous about having a local anaesthetic and being fully awake for the surgery. I was given a numbing cream before the surgery and I didn’t feel a thing when the anaesthetic was administered. I need not have worried about being awake as Miss Breahna’s all-female theatre team were lovely and chatted with me all the way through. The very good thing about having a local anaesthetic is that it lasts for a few hours afterwards and lets you get home in comfort!
Following the surgery I took the prescribed painkillers for 24 hours post surgery, then I did not need them after that. I followed all the post-operative advice exactly. I stayed in bed, totally off my feet for 3 days after the surgery, watching films and box sets!! I then took it really easy for the remainder of the first week. During week 2 I worked from home and took it easy, but felt fine. During weeks 2-6 I didn’t feel very restricted at all, but refrained from exercise and sexual relations, as per the advice. From week 6 I have resumed all activities. A very unexpected result of my surgery is the improved sensation and sensitivity of my clitoral area as a result of the clitoral hood reduction.
My biggest worry before the surgery was the potential for pain. I honestly found the whole experience to be relatively painless. After taking the painkillers for 24 hours I had no pain or stinging at all and only really had discomfort for a week or so. By 2 weeks post-surgery I was not restricted by discomfort.
I followed all the advice I was given about post-surgical hygiene. I wore supportive, surgical underwear and sanitary towels initially, showered after going to the toilet and applied the antibiotic cream and post-surgical spray for 2 weeks. I then applied sudcrem to the stitched area for a short while, then started massaging the scars with Aveeno baby cream. Looking back, I think the most significant thing about having the surgery is the time investment. You do have to be willing to invest time in your recovery – take it easy for a while and follow all the hygiene advice, which can be time consuming.
Having cosmetic surgery can be an enormous decision. Miss Breahna is a very skilled and diligent surgeon and has a lovely manner. The results are beyond what I expected and I am very grateful to Miss Breahna and her team for the positive experience of a very personal and intimate surgery. The worst part of the process was the years I spent worrying whether or not to have it!
