Facial Volume Loss

Facial volume loss is a normal, expected response to ageing. Although it is unlikely people will avoid this natural process, the way it takes effect will differ from person to person. Facial volume loss in particular, most often shows itself in the mid and lower face, affecting the cheek and jawline areas. A tired and drawn appearance can emerge through the development of thinning skin that is less supported by its underlying structure.
From around the age 20+ the production of collagen and elastin in the skin begins to slow and as a result, changes to the condition of our skin occur. The collagen in our skin keeps it plump and full looking, with elastin working to maintain the skin’s ability to stay taut and retract when stretched through movements. However, as these essential proteins start to deplete, the skin may begin to show signs of becoming lax, and the face starting to look hollow. As volume is lost over time we may notice other related concerns such as: gaunt cheeks, hollow eyes, nasolabial lines and jowls. This is all perfectly normal although some people may wish to seek ways to address their facial volume loss concerns.
At Chester Cosmetic Surgery we perform popular aesthetic treatments for the face to help restore a more radiant and younger looking appearance. Dermal fillers are a safe and effective way of replacing volume to the area beneath the surface of the skin. This injectable product works in the same way as collagen, strengthening the underlying tissues for a firmer, fuller looking facial profile. Dermal fillers are available in a range of densities and formulations, designed to be suitable for addressing different areas of the face and their specific concerns.
